The 4th of July is HUGE! We have a children's parade and games, movie night, belly-flop comest, lawn mower races, the Oak Cliff fire department attends, Red White and Boom 5K, and the Triangle of Boom firework show.

We need lots of volunteers to make all the events of the 4th of July happen. If you are interested in helping out watch the neighborhood Facebook page for opportunities to jump in.

2014 Schedule of Events:
Thursday July 3rd:
8:00 pm outdoor movie at the clubhouse - Despicable Me 2
Friday July 4th:
7:00 am Red White and Boom 5K
10:30 am 4th of July Parade (parade runs from the corner of Frontier/Lindsay to the clubhouse)
11:00 am Children's games at the clubhouse - Dress to get wet!
1:00 pm Lawn mower races
2:00 pm Belly flop contest (men, women, and kids categories)
Saturday and Sunday July 5th and 6th
Volleyball tournament

This committee changes each year as neighbors volunteer to coordinate all of our 4th of July activities. We always need lots of involvement to make 4th of July fun for everyone! Please attend our quarterly HOA meetings to be notified of opportunities to serve the neighborhood through the 4th of July committee.

The 2018 Proposed Budget has been made and the HOA fees are the same as last year. If you have any questions, please reach out to HOA Board members at highlandtrailsedmond@gmail.com. Below are information pertaining to our HOA dues and how to make a payment.

BINGO stands for Babes In Need of Going Out!

This group gets together once a month for a fun night out. You can join the e-mail group to find out what event is going on each month. Events in the past have included going to the movies, dinner, and concerts.

This event was a huge success and lots of fun as neighbors came out to meet each other and have a good time. We are looking forward to next year!

Our first annual Backyard ~BB-Q Cook-off is being put together by Steve Reinholtz and will be held May 10th 2014.

So bring your own meat and we'll see who gets the bragg'n rights for best Q in the hood! Last thing, we need @ least 6 teams and I'll check and see if Oak Cliff F.D. can volunteer their time to judge for some free Q!

A group of ladies meets for Bunco on the third Tuesday of every month at the clubhouse at 7:00.

There is a sign up list for snacks each time they meet. It is $5.00 to play which goes toward the winnings of the night.

At least twice a year Highland Trails holds a neighborhood wide garage sale. Everyone does there own individual garage sales on the same day. The date usually coordinated through our Facebook page. This benefits everyone because all of the marketing information goes out to Edmond through the neighborhood allowing for more traffic at your individual sale.

Around the holidays neighbors that sell merchandise gather at the clubhouse where you can go and do all of your holiday shopping and at the same time support your neighborhood vendors. It's a fun time for everyone and a great way to get to know new people.

1. Design Review Committee/Covenant Compliance - Covenant committee has met once; questions from lawyer need answering which will provide us direction on how to approach covenant modifications. Questions surround what constitutes “consent” which is the language used in the current covenants. Once clarification is received, the covenant review committee will meet weekly to complete this hopefully by October 2014. No emails have been sent to the gmail account giving suggestions for covenants.

2. Asphalt/Streets - Asphalt on Skyline will be repaired again, seems there is an issue right at that spot with drainage so the contractor will make some modification of the leveling of that area to alleviate additional problems. It is under warranty so we are not having to spend money on the repairs. Aaron has some additional requests for quotes from Fuller for the additional road areas needing repaired. One quote was approximately 16K to repair the current list of issues except for Red River as that will be a project in and of itself. Aaron also has a contact through OK Nat’l Guard that may be able to do asphalt work as part of their training which will be less of an expense to us. So he is working that end to get quotes from them as well.
If it works out, this may give us the funding needed to do the sidewalk on Riley Ridge providing the area for the sidewalk is appropriated correctly (Oak Tree estates property needs re-survey of property line and fence moved off of 1099 Riley Ridge property as well as approval from OGE for use of their easement).

3. Pool/Clubhouse - Loose rails at pool have been replaced. Drained pool last week, 2nd chlorinator has been added, and flappers to the drains were replaced. Hopefully this will help with the issues we have been experiencing, however, the state health department had really good things to say about our pool indicating it’s one of the best he’s seen this year as well as it’s been the best it’s ever been. Thanks to all who help take care of the pool, on or off the board!
Aaron to make call to fence company as there is an issue with the fence by the west gate. Also noted that slide has a crack in it and this will be repaired.

4. Website - Kim finalizing migration efforts to route the current web address to re-direct to website that welcoming committee created. This will become the official site for information and will not rely on facebook or google group to get information out. Too many avenues to communicate, everyone needs to be aware of the website. Will communicate to everyone when the migration is complete. This will also make it easier for the next secretary or other board members when trying to communicate with the neighborhood.
Aaron needs to send godaddy acct info to Kim.

5. Financials - Budget reviewed; quick books is now being used to manage funds. $54,695.89 in account currently and all bills are up to date.

6. Other items - Quote for sprinkler repairs as well as lot 44 came in around 17K. The sprinklers at the front of the neighborhood were damaged when the fence was installed at the house on the north corner.
Aaron to install NO OUTLET sign on Riley Ridge in the coming week/weekend or ask someone to install it.
Deion heard back from RWD1 about the well on Riley Ridge and the upkeep. They have agreed to mow it weekly, as well as paint the door brown on the front. The side (or rear?) door cannot be painted due to the material it is made of (fiberglass?). They will also be installing a light on the side of it and this is to be completed over the next couple weeks. Landscape quote being obtained for Riley Ridge from Landrun Lawn company by Jonathan Albarran (from Riley Ridge- sorry if I misspelled your name!). This company will also give us quotes on the entire neighborhood common areas. Currently Bowman Brothers is who we are contracted with and their contract is up in April 2015. Would be nice to support neighborhood peeps for business. C. McKinzie to get info from Aaron so Landrun can give us a quote. Creating the area for landscaping will also help with the drainage runoff into the yard next to the well.

Area adjacent to pond between the houses on Frontier and the two homes on Ashley Cir is common area and Aaron will contact Bowman to begin regular maintenance on this area.

Our neighborhood is in the MOMS Club of Edmond West. MOMS Club of Edmond is a non-profit, local group of stay at home moms focused on supporting each other during the day. This includes mothers working part-time or out of their homes. With a variety of activities planned each month for moms and kids, you'll get a chance to make new friends, enjoy good conversations, and gain support when it is needed most. MOMS Club is unique because we encourage children at all of our activities! The swimming pool opens Memorial Day weekend. Pool hours are from sun up to sun down. The pool is closed Mondays for maintenance and if the company that cleans the pool is present we are asked to stay clear of the pool until they have completed the maintenance and give clearance for swimming. Children should be supervised by adults as there are no life guards on duty. Showers and bathrooms are available in the clubhouse. You are asked to please rinse off prior to entering the pool if you have been playing in the sand on the volleyball court. Also, it is acceptable for any adult to hold the children of the neighborhood accountable in this way. If you see anyone abusing the pool and equipment or clubhouse please report this to either ~JoAnn Braniff or Aaron Hallmark. You will need a key fob for access to the clubhouse. We have a sand volleyball pit and there are usually games and activities going on every weekend evening as long as the weather is nice!

This committee is in charge of welcoming new neighbors to Highland Trails. Our goal is to promote a positive sense of community and encourage involvement in our neighborhood activities. We want to be a friendly face for new comers as they are moving; whether they are coming from out of state or across town.

Our group gathers information about our area to give out to new comers and we make it available via this website. We get together twice a month to deliver welcome packages and get to know the new members or our community.
